About Saifia Hamidia Unani Tibbiya College

Saifia Hamidia Unani Tibbiya College was established in 1962 by the Unani Tibbi Education Society, Burhanpur, with the vision of promoting excellence in Unani medical education, healthcare, and research. The institution was named in honour of two distinguished personalities: the late Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan Alhaj Hakeem Abdul Hameed Saheb (R.A.), Founder Trustee of the Hamdard National Foundation and Founder Chancellor of Jamia Hamdard, New Delhi, and the late Dr Syedna Taher Saifuddin Saheb (R.A.), the revered spiritual leader of the Dawoodi Bohra community. The College offers high-quality medical education, comprehensive clinical training, and research opportunities aimed at competent, ethical, and compassionate healthcare professionals. Its attached teaching hospital provides accessible and affordable healthcare services to the community through specialised Unani treatments and holistic patient care. It is the first Unani medical college established in the city of Burhanpur, Madhya Pradesh. The institution has earned a distinguished reputation for academic excellence and professional development. Located on State Highway No. 27 (Khandwa Road, Burhanpur), just outside the historic fortified city of Burhanpur, the College campus spans a spacious area and features modern infrastructure and academic facilities. The institution is dedicated to imparting comprehensive knowledge of the Unani System of Medicine, encompassing both its classical principles and contemporary advancements, while integrating relevant aspects of modern medical science. The Unani Tibbi Education Society, Burhanpur (MP), built Saeeda Hospital & Research Centre. Smt. Mohsina Qidwai Saheba, Union Health Minister of the Government of India. Shri Motilalji Vora, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, laid down the foundation stone of “Saeeda Hospital & Research Centre” in January 1986. The Saeeda Hospital & Research Centre, affiliated with Saifia Hamidia Unani Tibbiya College, is a dedicated healthcare institution committed to providing patient care, advanced clinical services, and meaningful research in Unani medicine. Serving the community with compassion and professionalism, the hospital integrates traditional Unani principles with modern diagnostic and healthcare practices to ensure comprehensive treatment, effective disease management, and overall patient well-being. The Centre offers outpatient and inpatient services, specialised therapeutic procedures, preventive healthcare programmes, and clinical training opportunities for students. Through its research activities, it actively contributes to the scientific validation, development, and advancement of Unani medicine. Driven by a commitment to excellence, innovation, and community service, the Hospital & Research Centre continues to play a vital role in improving public health while supporting education, research, and healthcare delivery in the region. The hospital is built on 50,000 square feet (including the basement, ground floor, and three upper floors). In addition, residences are available for doctors employed at the hospital. The huge, palatial, and spectacular 150-bed hospital building includes two operating rooms, a labour room, pathology, radiology, and physiotherapy laboratories, sonography and electrocardiography units, male and female general/private wards, and an O.P.D. consulting room, all of which are moderately equipped.
