The Bachelor of Unani Medicine and Surgery (BUMS), also known as Kamil-e-Tibb-o-Jarahat, is an undergraduate degree programme in the Unani System of Medicine. The course is framed by the National Commission for Indian System of Medicine (NCISM), New Delhi, in accordance with the regulations and curriculum prescribed under the NCISM Act, 2020. The Saifia Hamidia Unani Tibbiya College is affiliated with Madhya Pradesh Medical Science University (MPMSU), Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh.
The Bachelor of Unani Medicine and Surgery (BUMS) is a 5½-year full-time course. comprising 4½ years of academic study followed by a one-year compulsory rotatory internship (CRI).
The 4½-year academic programme is divided into three professional levels (1st, 2nd, and 3rd Professional Examinations); each professional level is 18 months.
Each professional phase consists of:

• Classroom teaching
• Practical and laboratory training
• Clinical demonstrations
• Hospital clinical postings
• Community health exposure
• Internal assessments
• University examinations

After passing the Third Professional Examination, every student is required to undergo a 12-month Compulsory Rotatory Internship (CRI) as per the guidelines by NCISM, New Delhi.

The internship enables students to acquire practical clinical skills, patient management experience, professional ethics, and confidence in independent medical practice.

A candidate becomes eligible for the award of the Bachelor of Unani Medicine and Surgery (BUMS) degree only after:
1. Successfully passing all three Professional Examinations
2. Completing the prescribed one-year Compulsory Rotatory Internship (CRI) satisfactorily.
3. Fulfilling all other requirements prescribed by NCISM and the affiliated university.

Theory and Practical examination in each professional will be held as per schedule framed and announced by University, based on the syllabus for B.U.M.S. degree prescribed by C.C.I.M., New Delhi.

The Bachelor of Unani Medicine & Surgery (BUMS) is a 5½-year undergraduate professional degree in the Unani System of Medicine. It is recognised by the Government of India and regulated by the National Commission for Indian System of Medicine (NCISM). The course is designed to prepare students as qualified Unani physicians (Hakim) who can diagnose, prevent, and treat diseases using the principles of Unani medicine, supported by modern medical sciences. The Bachelor of Unani Medicine and Surgery (BUMS) programme comprises 4½ years of academic study followed by a one-year Compulsory Rotatory Internship (CRI), which is supervised clinical training in recognised teaching hospitals and healthcare institutions.
